Jessica and Jeremy’s downtown Wilmington engagement session had no agenda, no tight timeline—just a hot summer day, a lot of laughter, and a couple who look like they stepped out of an editorial campaign. We wandered beneath the towering cypress trees and let the light (and the humidity) do its thing. The vibe? Cinematic. Moody. Unfiltered. Exactly how I like it.
I’ve known these two for years, and their chemistry is electric. They’re creative, stylish, musical, and a little edgy—basically my dream clients. Most of all they a f*cking HILARIOUS and obviously I really appreciate that in humans. Sense of humor is 10/10 for me. Jessica and Jeremy trusted me completely, which is what made their engagement photos feel more like moments versus a photo session. Some photos feel posed. These felt like stills from a black-and-white indie film—intimate, shadowed, and completely unforced. And yes, we shot a ton of 35mm film—the grain, the softness, the emotion…it was all there.
These kinds of sessions remind me why I love being a Wilmington wedding photographer. There’s something about slowing down with a couple, giving them space to just be, and watching the magic unfold between the shadows and the sunlight.
