Hey y’all! I'm Ashley! My favorite things are my son, cheese, PSL’s, bonfires, margaritas, babies, outdoor lights, the 80’s and 90’s, the ocean, sunsets, the universe, crystals, the smell of freshly cut grass, gardens, and hammocks. Something else I really like is people. I’m a total empath. I can feel the emotions of others as if they were my own. I love to figure out what makes them tick. We are so complex and so very magical!

I live in Wilmington, North Carolina, and this is my happy place. I grew up in the mountains of NC, in a teeny tiny town called Marion.

I am a single mom to the most incredible kiddo, Will, and I also teach preschool at the best school on earth. Obviously, I’m a photographer as well. I love seeing LOVE frozen in stills!

When I was a kid in the 80’s, my dad had this really cool vintage camera. He always let me play around with his camera whenever I wanted. He never told me not to mess with it, he encouraged me. My dad was so funny, he always had a camera or a camcorder (think bulky, 90’s era) in hand! He loved capturing moments. His favorite was to set up a camcorder and record us all doing our thing during holidays with the family. These were obviously very candid home videos, but there’s something more I believe he was after. They were authentic. I guess I get my appreciation of all things natural and candid from him. He was also my very best friend.

When I got to high school, I decided to try my hand at photography for real. I signed up for yearbook and was the yearbook photographer my senior year. I learned about light, how to use a sophisticated camera, and how to develop in a darkroom. It was one of my favorite things that I have ever done.

Here I am, just a very few (haha) years after high school.

My dad passed away and I went through a rebirth of sorts. His passing changed everything about me, from the way I view life to how I view myself. I was given a camera for Christmas by my sweet boyfriend at the time. I began to post photos on social media that I had taken of my precious son, and the rest is history. Things just fell into place. I know my dad is smiling upon my new venture.

The name, Seagle Photography is a nod to my dad, the late Larry Seagle. When I go to edit my sessions with these wonderful people I meet, often times a single Seagull will show up in just *one* frame out of the session. Other times, one Seagull appears in every single image. I just smile. Look for him in your session and know how much love has been poured into those images.

I am blessed to do this work. I feel so much gratitude every single day. My clients give me joy. Capturing your soul in a still frame is spiritual to me. Photography freezes time. That in itself, is endlessly fascinating to me.

“Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men – above all for those upon whose smiles and well-being our own happiness depends.”
